ITF/CAT AJC Qualifiers: Nigeria’s Marylove, Oiza Shock Ivorian, Gabonese Players; Just One Win Away From Final

Results from Lomé, Togo this Wednesday morning have revealed how the Nigerian players in the West African country for the ITF/CAT West & Central African Junior Championships Qualifiers are making the country proud with sterling performances.

The youngsters have given a good account of themselves so far at the ongoing tournament so far and are only one win away from reaching the final of the tournament.

Marylove Edwards and Oiza Yakubu seem to be the stars of the competition so far, as they have dumped out their opponents in devastating fashion already.

The US-based Edwards who recently won a Junior ITF title in Nigeria, made sure to crush her opponent from Cote D’Ivoire, Sadejo Coulibaly in two straight sets of 6-2, 6-2 in the quarterfinals of the girls 16 Singles.

Yakubu on the other hand was a constant thorn in the flesh of Lea Laurentia Besous from Gabon, and deservedly ended the game with a 6-2, 6-0 win to increase her chances of playing in the finals.

For the boys 14, Ganiyu Mubarak and Idris Mohammed are already in the semifinals of the competition and their chances are looking bright to make it to the final and win the championship.

The boys 16 are effectively out of the singles event but they are still in contention in the team event which kicks off on Thursday.
