VEMP OPEN: Battle In Abuja As Ekpenyong Ambushes Abayomi

There will be a lot of battle at the semis of the ongoing VEMP Open National Tennis Championship in Abuja as some of Nigeria’s young players go neck to neck.

In the Men’s final, David Ekpenyong, Nigeria’s highest ranked junior tennis player on the ITF rankings will take on Abayomi Philip, another former junior star.

The match promises to be that of heights as both players are lanky and will be imposing their heights when they square up by 9am today.

In the second semifinal match, Nigeria’s number one male player, Onyeka Oparaoji, will be tackling the competition’s number four seeded player, Peter Lawal, for a spot in the final.

Also, number one female player in Nigeria, Marylove Edwards, will battle another top player, Oiza Yakubu, while ‘Madam Consistent’ Anu Aiyegbusi will have her hands full with Stella Udokwu in a match that completed top-four seed contest in the Women’s semis.

Nigerians will be buzzing for who emerges in the final among these players as the first week of the national competition winds down in Abuja.
