If things go according to plan, Nigeria may emerge as the hosts of the Davis Cup World Group III qualifiers scheduled for June, 2024.
The Nigerian team consisting of Coach Benson Ishicheli, Uche Oparaoji, Christopher Bulus, David Ekpenyong, Wilson Igbinovia and Peter Lawal helped Nigeria secure qualification from World Group IV of the team event in 2023.
Nigeria had to overcome hosts Kenya in the promotional playoff to stand a chance of competing in Group III again as Ghana secured the second promotion ticket by defeating Rwanda 3-0.

After a successful hosting of the BNP Paribas World Team Cup Africa Qualification event in Abuja, Nigeria may be given the rights to host another qualification event if everything goes according to plan.
Nigeria Tennis Live gathered that the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF) is at the verge of submitting a bid with intentions to host the Davis Cup event in Abuja.
While giving journalists a load down of activities planned for the first half of the year, the NTF President, Engr. Ifedayo Akindoju, hinted that Nigeria is hoping to host the event in Abuja.
“We have concluded plans to submit our bid to host the Davis Cup event scheduled to hold in June, we hope to get the hosting rights for the event this year,” he said during the interview with journalists.
Nigeria (93) is the 10th ranked team in Africa, behind Ghana (89), Benin (83), Cote D’Ivoire (79), Namibia (78), Zimbabwe (77), Togo (65), Tunisia (58), South Africa (54), Morocco (51) and Egypt (43).
Nigerians will be looking forward to a promotion to World Group II after Nigeria’s encouraging performance to gain promotion to African Group III in 2023.
