Oyinlomo Quadre led Nigeria to a historic Billie Jean King Cup Europe/Africa Group II qualification, and instantly etched her name in Nigerian tennis history.
Team Nigeria had lost their first promotional playoff tie against Tunisia, despite coming really close in the final match of the tie, and needed to dig deep in the final match against Botswana to stand any chance of gaining promotion.

And it was the inspirational Quadre who led Nigeria’s charge for victory with an outstanding performance on Saturday, 18 July, 2026, that eventually confirmed Nigeria’s promotion.
Success Ogunjobi was ruthless in the first rubber against Chelsea Chakanyuka, earning an incredible 6-2, 6-4 win to set the tone for what’s to come for the Nigerian team. Quadre followed that up with a victory of her own, but it did not come easy against the tough playing Ekua Youri.

After losing the first set 4-6, the US-based Nigerian tennis sensation dragged herself back into the match by taking the second set 6-4, leaving the match to a final set decider which was where trouble began. Youri took a 4-0 lead in the final set, leaving the Nigerian player hanging in the balance.
In a spectacular fashion, Quadre, a former Oklahoma University student won four games on a bounce to tie the game 4-4 and get the match back on serve. She would later break at 5-5 and serve for the match and take a massive 7-5 win.

The Aurum Tennis Academy athlete partnered with Ogunjobi in the ensuing Doubles, but even though they lost the match 2-6, 6-3, 10-5, they had done enough to secure a top place finish for the Nigerian team in Botswana.

With the win, Quadre went the entire competition without losing any of her Singles matches, and became Nigeria’s outright record holder in different regards at the Billie Jean King Cup competition.
She now holds the record for Most Singles Win (16-5), Most Doubles Win (14-4), Most Total Wins (30-9), Most Ties Played (23) and Joint Most Years Played alongside Adesuwa Osabuohien (5).
And with one of the youngest teams to represent Nigeria at the Billie Jean King Cup event, Quadre has now qualified Nigeria for the Europe/Africa Group II for the first time in the history of Nigerian tennis.
