Nigeria’s Only ATP Player Bulus Moves 44 Places, Nears Top 1000

Christopher Bulus, the only Nigerian player on the ATP Rankings, has moved 44 places in the latest rankings released by the Association of Tennis Players.

The US-based Nigerian Davis Cup player has been moving for three consecutive weeks now, and given his recent performances, deservedly further upwards on the rankings.

Up from his 1202 spot from last week, Bulus is now ranked 1158 in the world, and just sits a few spots away from cracking the top 1000, a feat no Nigerian has achieved in recent years.

He participated in a couple of M25 and M15 tournaments in Georgia before returning to New York where he will be playing more events in the coming weeks, as he looks set to keep building on his current momentum.

With this ranking, the Lagos-based Aces Tennis Academy product has reached his highest-ever spot on the ATP rankings.

Bulus, a former University of Nevada Las Vegas student, keeps flying the Nigerian flag on the ATP as no other Nigerian player has been able to reach the height he has reached in recent years.

However, with the influx of more Nigerian players into the United States, playing College Tennis, it is only a matter of time before Nigerians start picking ATP points.

The likes of Wilson Igbinovia and Martins Abamu have been outstanding in recent months and youngster, Gabriel Inyang, also in US College, can take a leaf from his senior colleagues and bring glory to Nigeria.
