Lagos Open Tennis: She’s Too Good For A Nigerian – Indian Top Seed Says After Defeating Oyinlomo
Riya Bhatia, the Indian number five seed who defeated Nigeria’s Oyinlomo Quadre, has described the youngster as a really good player.
Bhatia, ranked 499 in the world, played a final set match against Quadre, a top 200 junior player which ended in 2-6, 6-2, 6-2, but not without working her socks out against the youngster.
In a brief chat with Nigeria Tennis Live after the nerve wrenching game, the Indian player noted that her Nigerian counterpart was a really good player.
“It was a tough match,” she said, “against a really good player.”
“She’s too good for a Nigerian player, I mean, she is a really good player. She’s very defensive too,” Bhatia added while still trying to catch her breath.
With a look on her face which suggested that she could not wait to get off the court after the 1hr 58minutes affair, the 22-year-old player noted that the Nigerian cannot be training in Nigeria with such a performance.
“She’s really good, but I learnt that she doesn’t train in Nigeria. She cannot be in Nigeria and play that good,” the Indian confessed.
