EXCLUSIVE: NTF President Replies Wheelchair Tennis Players, Find Out What He Said

Engr. Dayo Akindoju, the president of the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF) has appealed to the wheelchair tennis players who are clamouring for tournaments, to exercise patience with the board as the new year unfolds.

The president was reacting to the players’ outcry over their perceived neglect over the years and the fact that they have not had any major tournament for themselves to prepare for and participate in continental championships.

We got you all covered… Engr. Akindoju tells wheelchair tennis players.

In separate chats with Nigerian Tennis Live, the players had pleaded with the NTF leadership to look into their plights and help organize tournaments which will help them stay fit and participate in other competitions outside the country.

And when our correspondent put a call through to Engr. Akindoju to seek clarification on the plans of the federation, he explained that they were yet to roll out the tournaments for the year, adding that the players should exercise patience.

“The board is scheduled to meet on Wednesday, 31st January, to iron out all the confirmed tournaments and the ones that are still being expected, so we all have to exercise patience.

“As soon as we are done with this collation, we shall roll out a calendar of activities for everyone to see and other tournaments that have not been concluded yet will be revealed in due course. So, everyone should exercise patience for now,” he said during the brief chat.

Nigerian Tennis Live will keep in touch with the NTF President and the board to get all the tournaments lined up for 2018 as tennis players will start gearing up for the new tennis season.
