AZIMUTH Shipping Lines Announces Dates For First Junior Tournament Of Year 2020

AZIMUTH Shipping Lines Limited has announced the dates for the first tournament for the year 2020, Nigeria Tennis Live can report.

The tournament – AZIMUTH Shipping Lines Limited Junior Tennis Championship – which is in its third year rewards winners with grants, and these grants have aided the tennis development and education of the youngsters who have emerged as winners since the competition kicked off.

Giving our correspondent an update on the dates for the event, Coach Richard Inyang stated that: “The tournament holds from 20-25th January in the Under 12, 14 and 16 categories.

“For the Under 12s, the tournament starts on Monday while the Under 14s take centre stage the next day.

“On Wednesday, we kick off with the Under 16s while we play the quarterfinals on Thursday. The semis will take place on Friday while all the finals will be played on Saturday.”

Nigeria Tennis Live has also gathered that all the matches will played at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, as against having the finals at the Victoria Garden City (VGC) Tennis Club.

This, according to the organizers, is to “avoid clumsy movements of the players and officials on the day of the final.”

The annual tournament is being sponsored by Captain Stephen Owolabi Martins, the CEO AZIMUTH Shipping Lines Limited and a relentless tennis enthusiast and passionate grassroots development lover.

Nigeria Tennis Live is the official media partner for the competition which is aimed at discovering new talents for the Nigerian tennis circuit.
