David and Daniel Igbinovia were the the cynosure of all eyes at the grand finale of the Bella Disu Open Championship in Lagos.
The inaugural edition of the boys and girls 14 & unders tournament was held between 25 and 30 May, 2026, inside the prestigious Lagos Lawn Tennis Club 1895, with hundreds of tennis kids from different parts of Lagos in attendance.

The twin brothers played through the round robin stage of the competition, and fought their way to the final of the tournament, a reminiscence of the final match up at a national junior tournament a few years ago, but it was Daniel who got the upper hand.

For the umpteenth time, he got the better of his twin brother, to take home the giant trophy for the Boys’ winner as well as the scholarship offered by the Bella Disu Foundation.

In the Girls’ final, emerging tennis sensation, Mofifunoluwa Atilola, had an amazing game, defeating another budding tennis sensation, Ooyinka Ayinla in straight sets that ended 6-1, 6-1.

Atilola, touted as the next big thing in Nigerian tennis, does not turn 13 until October, yet, she remains a dominant force in Nigerian age grade tennis competitions.

Nigeria Tennis Live gathered that winners and runner-ups of the competition got N1.9m and N1m worth of scholarship respectively to cover equipment maintenance, tournament entry, kit, physio access and international tournaments entry for six months.

The Bella Disu Foundation extended their benevolence to the semifinalists who got six months scholarship for equipment maintenance, tournament entry, kit and physio access worth N660,000 (six hundred and sixty thousand naira) each.
