Ogunsakin Brothers, Amasiani, Khadijat Top List Of Nigerian Players To Togo AJC

Seun Ogunsakin and his brother, Seyi, are among the Nigerian players who have touched down in Togo for the West & Central African Junior Tennis Championship.

The Ekiti-born players are among the twelve-player list of Nigerian players expected to prosecute the tournament which kicks off on Saturday, 6 January, 2024.

Seun who ended year 2023 as Africa’s number one junior U-14 player, is one of the players to watch out for at the championship and is tipped to defend the gold he won last year.

He is joined by Ikenna Okonkwo and Olawale Gbolahan in the boys U-16 category as Nigeria goes all out for gold in the neighbouring West African country.

Nigeria Tennis Live gathered that Chukwudubem Amasiani, one of Nigeria’s most outstanding junior players in 2023, is also in Togo for the tournament as well as Michael Joel, another player who shone brilliantly in 2023 – both will be playing in the U-14 category alongside Seyi Ogunsakin.

2023 Dala Hard Court Champion, Khadijat Mohammed and silent killer, Bright Emmanuel as well as Ohunene Yakubu are listed to prosecute the girls U-16 event.

For the girls U-14, National Youth Games gold winner, Lorelay Holzendorff, leads the pack with Gloria Samuel and Goodnews Aina to complete a very compact squad for the Nigerian teenagers.

However, our correspondent gathered that Yakubu did not travel with the team as she was down with a bout of sickness as at the time of the trip.
