Destiny Ford Da-Silva, a former Nigerian tennis star, has concluded plans to host a new national tennis championship in Lagos, and these are all the details you need to know about this championship.
The Destiny Da-Silva Tennis Open Championship is scheduled to hold from 13 -21 November, 2026, inside the tennis section of the National Stadium, Surulere-Lagos.

Nigerian tennis players are already excited about the national tournament that is billed to reward players with a total prize purse of ₦30 million naira across several categories – Men’s and Women’s Singles and Doubles events, Wheelchair Tennis Men’s and Women’s Singles and Doubles events as well as the Veteran’s Men’s Singles event.

Da-Silva, through his Destiny Ford Da-Silva Foundation is keen on seeing tennis players return to the courts inside the National Stadium in Lagos, having previously made his mark as a tennis sensation on the same courts in Lagos.

With the uncertainties surrounding a return of the Rainoil Tennis Open, the Da-Silva Tennis Open Championship has the potential of becoming the highest-paying tournament in Nigeria currently as the Men’s Singles and Women’s Singles winners will be rewarded with ₦1.5m (one million, five hundred thousand naira only).
The event which is now one of the most-anticipated in the last quarter of the year, is expected to bring together some of Nigeria’s leading tennis players from across the country.

For every main draw player, there is also a fixed one-time ₦30,000 subsidy allowance for the duration of the championship.
Players are expected to register through their respective State Tennis Associations ahead of the qualifying rounds, which are scheduled to begin on Friday, 13 November while the Main Draw will commence on Monday, 16 November, with the championship running until 21 November.
The tournament represents a major new investment in Nigeria’s domestic tennis calendar and is expected to attract tennis fans and enthusiasts to the National Stadium in Lagos.
