Nigeria’s Toyin Asogba was at her very best as she fought back to win her first tournament since she returned to France.
The Nigerian Billie Jean King Cup star returned to France a few weeks ago and got back in shape immediately to start playing competitive tennis at her base in Avignon.
And in her first major tournament since her return to Europe, the Nigerian tennis player did not waste time to remind her colleagues why she was such a sensation in the Nigerian tennis circuit before leaving for France.

Asogba won her semifinal match 6-0, 7-6 before going all the way in the final of the Ace Cup 2025 Sarrians competition, winning 6-2, 6-7, 6-4 against Nessa Barithel.

Winning the new tournament improved the ranking of the Nigerian tennis star, pushing her into the top 10 of tennis professionals in France.
“I wonnnnnnnnnnn!” she stated excitedly in a message to Nigeria Tennis Live from France after the feat. “First tournament, first win,” she added before explaining details of the competition.

“It started since last week but because of rain delays, we didn’t play the semis so this week, there has been sun throughout. I played the semis in the morning, then the final later. Oboy, it was not easy,” Asogba explained.

Our correspondent gathered that she started playing another tournament this week, where she has won her opening match already. Winning this tournament will further raise her status among the elite players in the whole of France and get her into bigger tournaments.
