The Rainoil National Tennis Open Championship will serve off on Monday, 3 February, 2025 as already reported by Nigeria Tennis Live.

The tournament which is currently the biggest in the country, in terms of prize money, will be holding inside the tennis section of the Ikoyi Club 1938.

Our correspondent, however, gathered a few more updates for prospective participants at the event which is the first national tournament of the new year.

In the memo sent to States’ tennis associations, the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF) clearly stated the players who may not be able to participate in the event paying N2,000,000 (two million naira) as prize money.

About players who can participate, the memo read in part: “Only players who are in good standing with their associations and the NTF and have no disciplinary case or sanction by the ITF/CAT”.

The breakdown of the prize money also showed that the sponsor is splashing about N23,000,000 (twenty-three million naira) on the tournament.

While the Men’s Singles winner will be going home with the N2m, the Women’s Singles winner will be smiling to the bank with N1.5m prize money.

Unconfirmed reports say the preliminary round of matches which will be held from 31 January to 2 February, 2025, will be played inside the tennis section of the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos while the Main Draw matches will hold inside the tennis section of Ikoyi Club 1938 from Monday, 3 February, 2025.
