Nigeria Tennis Live has gathered that some members of team Nigeria to the ongoing ITF West and Central African Junior Championships in Lome, Togo may soon advance to the semi final stage of the competition, after posting some superlative performances.
Our correspondent gathered that the U-16 Boys stand a good chance of berthing in the semi final stage after their impressive run of results, especially if they defeat Benin Republic in their team challenge today.
Andu Mukhtar is one of the Nigerian U-16 boys representing the country at the ongoing AJC qualifiers in Togo.
Coach Abel Ubiebi who led the Nigerian contingent to the tiny West African country told Nigeria Tennis Live that he is confident in the ability of the boys to produce another superlative performance to be able to make it to the semis by Sunday evening.
Asked what stage Nigeria would qualify for after the current round of matches, he said: “The semi final.”
When quizzed further to know if the players would qualify with or without the outcome of their match against the Beninoise, the confident coach replied: “I am sure we’ll defeat them to qualify for the semi final stage. It’s almost like a done deal.”
