France-based Jade Nzewi has revealed why he is currently in Lagos for the ongoing Azimuth Shipping Lines Junior Tennis Championship.
Jade, a former Lagos boy, has been training at the All In Tennis Academy in France, but is currently in the country for the biggest national junior tennis championship in Nigeria.
In a brief chat with Nigeria Tennis Live at the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, Onikan, Lagos, venue of the competition, the teenager revealed that he came into town because he needed the match experience.
He said: “I am here for the Azimuth Tournament, normally, there should be a TPPA Tournament, and there’s also going to be an ITF coming up soon.

“I came for the match experience, it’s been a while since I came back, so, I wanted to see how it’s going. I heard it’s a pretty new tournament (from the last time here).
“I am not familiar with the terrain but I mean, I try to go into every tournament with the confidence that I can do well, and see what I can do in this tournament, yeah.”
Nigerian youngsters will be looking forward to competing against the Europe-based Nzewi as they also test their competitiveness against other youngsters.
Meanwhile, Boys and Girls U-16 as well as Girls U-16 matches will serve off today while matches in the Boys U-14 will be starting from the second round.
