The newly-introduced Vemp Open which serves off in Abuja on Monday, 3 September, will attract national ranking points, Nigerian Tennis Live can categorically report.
Our correspondent had informed earlier, that the tournament is being bankrolled by Engr. ‘Dayo Akindoju, the President of the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF) alongside some of his friends; a synergy which costs about N15million in total.

And in another development, Nigerian Tennis Live confirmed from the organisers of the competition which is expected to be annual, that the tournament will attract same ranking points as the Rainoil Tennis Championship which made its debut in 2018.
“Yes, it will attract same ranking points as the Rainoil tournament,” Musa Saidu, the tournament’s referee told our reporter when he was asked about the ranking points for the tournament.
All Nigerian tennis players will switch their attention to Abuja as the tournament sets the tone for a busy end to the year.
Meanwhile, players have been given 13 September deadline to register for the newly branded Lagos Open (formerly known as Governor’s Cup) which is scheduled to start (qualifying series) later this month.
This information is already on the ITF website and players are encouraged to do their registration as soon as possible before the deadline.
