This result means Adegoke has failed to qualify for the final of a major national event for the first time in many years, as she has won most of the national championships for the past few years.

Donatus will now face Blessing Samuel, a regular finalist, in the final of the Women’s Singles at the inaugural edition of the Vemp Open competition.

The fair-skinned player will fancy her chances against Samuel having qualified for a major final for the first time in as many years.

Samuel defeated Agugbom Christine to land in the final of the competition, after partnering the same player to win the Women’s Doubles.

The pair won in straight sets of 6-3, 6-2 against Patience Onebamhoin and Oluchi Ozurumba to maintain their incredible dominance in team events in the Nigerian tennis circuit.
