Team Nigeria to the 2017 Davis Cup Team tournament will have to be at their very best of they must gain promotion to the Europe/Africa World Group 2.

The Nigerian contingent captained by Coach Benson Isicheli got to the North African country over the weekend and have already begun further preparations for the tournament.

The quartet of Abdulmumuni Babalola, Clifford Enosoregbe, Sylvester Emmanuel and Joseph Imeh will be flying Nigeria’s flag high when the championship serves off on Monday, 17 July, 2017.

Naija Tennis Special checks on the official website for the encounter revealed that Nigeria is in the same group as Egypt, Zimbabwe and Rwanda, a situation which means the players have to be at their very best.

While Egypt remains the powerhouse in the group with the likes of Mohamed Safwat, Sherif Sabri, Zimbabwe also poses a threat to the Nigerian players’ chances of advancing to Group 2 of the competition.

Takanyi Garanganga, who is a regular at the Governor’s Cup Lagos Tennis Tourney, is one of the players to watch out for.

The East African country also boasts of Benjamin Lock, another top player who has been to Nigeria for ITF Futures in recent past.

Regardless of all of the players and their high profiles, however, Nigerian players are still poised to make the country proud.
