Nigeria’s Michael Moses has vowed to repay the faith his sponsor, coach and friends have in him by clinching the Semifinal ticket at the ongoing Tombim Abuja ITF Futures in Nigeria’s Federal Capital.
Moses yesterday, created another upset during the event taking place at the package B of the National Stadium, Abuja, when he stunned number eight seed, Alcaraz Cortes in their second round match, defeating the Spaniard 6-7 (5), 7-5, 6-2.

Moses in high spirits after training this morning ahead of his Quarterfinal match against number four seed, Matija Pecotic from Croatia

Being the only Nigerian remaining in the tournament, the 2014 Abridged Governor’s Cup Winner, whose 9-week tour of Egypt has been instrumental to his growing confidence, believes that nothing is impossible when he takes on number four seed, Matija Pecotic from Croatia in a few hours time.
“I just have to play my game and see where that takes me. When I am on the court, I follow my coach’s instruction and I try to focus only on what I am in the competition for; to win.
“With the other Nigerian players already out, I can only say that I will try my best to keep the flag flying and secure a Semifinal ticket, which was my target from the onset.

Moses, after training this morning with his coach at one of the training courts on the Package B of the National Stadium, Abuja ahead of his Quarterfinal clash later today

“I suffered a slight injury to my left wrist but I still played and won with it although I doubt if my opponent knew that it troubled me a bit during the match. I believe in my abilities, but I trust God more to give me total victory later today,” he told our correspondent this morning in Abuja.
Coach Abe Babatunde, who tutors the Nigerian star also stated that he could not ascertain how well the player would perform, and warned that he has to take the game as it comes his way.
“You can never know how the game would end or pan out if it has not started. Let us hope that he does well. But, I can tell you that the experience of staying in Egypt for that lengthy period has helped him and Paul tremendously,” he averred.
