    Rainoil Tennis Championship: Fact Sheet Reveals 500k Prize Money, Draw Of 32 For Prelim

    The fact sheet for the fast approaching Rainoil Tennis Championship billed to hold in Lagos has revealed that there is a draw of 32 for players preparing to play in the preliminary stage as against the 64 players may be expecting.

    The sheet exclusively obtained by Nigerian Tennis Live showed that the players have a deadline of 6pm on Friday, 8 December to sign in to play the qualifying series which will be played between Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 December before the Main Draw which kicks off on Monday, 11 December.

    The decision to have a draw of 32 for the preliminary stage was also confirmed by Gift Edozie, the Tournament Director, who told Nigerian Tennis Live that the competition will get bigger in subsequent years.

    Nigeria’s Sylvester Emmanuel is one of the players expected to shine at the Rainoil Tennis Championship in Lagos.

    “My dear, this is what we have agreed on for this year being the first time. I believe this will improve in subsequent years as the tournament gets bigger,” she said during a brief chat with our reporter.

    Our correspondent also gathered that the inaugural tournament will involve only Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles and Men’s Doubles events for the one-week period.

    The total prize money which is a total of about N3.1million, will see the Men’s Singles winner go home with N500,000 while the Women’s Singles winner will be rewarded with N250,000 just as the Men’s Doubles winners take a share of N200,000.

    Below is a further breakdown of the amount each player will get after each round of the competition:

    Men’s Singles N500k

    Semi finalists N125k x 2
    Quarter finalists N65k x 4
    Round 2 N31k x 8
    Round 1 N15k x 16

    Women’s Singles N250
    Runner up N125k
    Semifinalists N62.5k x 2
    Quarterfinalists N31k x 4
    Round 1 N16k x 8

    Men Doubles N200k
    Runner-up N100k
    Semifinalists N50k
    Quarterfinalists N25k
    Round 1 N15k

    The tournament is billed to hold at the Lagos Country Club, Ikeja, Lagos, from Monday 11 December to Sunday, 17 December, 2017.
