Lorelay Holzendorf, one of the outstanding players at the ongoing National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State, is already plotting another big win.
The Team Edo youngster who recently led team Nigeria to a top finish at the ITF/CAT U-12 West and Central African competition in Ghana will have to overcome the relentless Bright Emmanuel of Team Lagos for a place in the final.
Both players are among the toughest opponents any of the players in the competition would hate to come up against.
While Lorelay is fast gaining momentum with her style of play, guided by her outstanding coach, Bright has been acclaimed to be a difficult player to beat, even by her compatriots.
Bright remains the highest ranked Nigerian female player on the African U-14 rankings despite not playing any ITF/CAT competition recently, and she has been a tough nut to crack for her opponents.
However, Lorelay has improved in recent months as well, and this there seems to be no better time than in this match to show her improvements on the court.
In other matches, Toluwalase Agunbiade (Cross River) will square up against Nenrot Suwa (Team Plateau) for an assured medal place finish.
Aina Henry (Team Delta) will battle Ayomide Oduwaye (Team Ogun) in the first boys’ semis while the FCT is already guaranteed a spot in the final as Ibrahim Aminu takes on his compatriot, Tobi Agboola, also of Team FCT) in the second semis.
