National Tournaments Update: DavNotch, Vemp Open In; CBN OUT!

Nigeria Tennis Live can officially confirm that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Senior Tennis Open will not hold this year.

The CBN Senior Open which has been consistently held for 45 previous times, has been confirmed to be on hold for the 2024 tennis season.

This development was confirmed to our correspondent by Engr. Ifedayo Akindoju, the president of the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF), during a brief chat on Tuesday, 9 April, 2024.

The message sent by our correspondent read: “Do we have a confirmation for the three national tournaments, Sir? DavNotch, VEMP and CBN Open?”

To which the President responded: “CBN no!”

From all indications, the other national tournaments are likely to hold as usual, but it does appear as if the 46th edition of the CBN Open will not hold this year.

As at the time of filing this report, Nigeria Tennis Live could not categorically confirm why the tournament will not be holding, but it has all been confirmed that it will not hold this year.

This provisionally leaves tennis players in Nigeria with three national tournaments tentatively; the VEMP Open, DavNotch Senior Championship and the Dala Hard Court Tennis Championship.

Nigeria Tennis Live will keep all our readers updated on the latest developments regarding the competitions as they are confirmed.
