Lagos Open: Oyinlomo, Imeh, Sylvester, Obasoto Get Wild Cards To Play Main Draw

Young Nigerian tennis sensation, Oyinlomo Quadre, is among the Nigerian players who got wild cards to play at the Lagos Open International Tennis Championships which serves off on Monday, 1 October at the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, Onikan, Lagos.

The wild card given to the youngster may have been as a result of her scintillating performance on the Junior ITF Circuit where she won about four titles in four weeks of tennis action across three West African countries.

Oyinlomo Quadre will be looking at picking her first point on the Senior ITF Circuit.

This much was revealed to Nigerian Tennis Live by the organizers of the tournament via a message on Sunday evening.

Nigeria’s number one male tennis player, Joseph Imeh alongside Sylvester Emmanuel, Ireland-based Adebola Obasoto, Sarah Adegoke, Donatus Lovetth and America-based Adesuwa Osabuohen were also among the recipients of the wild card for main draw placements.

Nigerian Tennis Live gathered that legendary Nigerian tennis superstar, Abdulmumin Babalola could not make it to the main draw as he was defeated 6-1, 6-2 by youngster Emmanuel Idoko, in one of the qualifying rounds.

After the match, Babalola confessed that although he was not in a good shape, the youngster deserved to win because “he played better”.

Nigerian Tennis Live will be on ground to cover proceedings from the $25,000+H tournament which is being attended by players from over 41 countries of the world.
