Khadijat, Etoro In Epic Battle As J30 Abuja Second Leg Serves Off

The centre court of the tennis section inside the National Stadium in Abuja will not be short of fireworks when two of Nigeria’s top juniors face each other as the second leg of the J30 Abuja serves off.

Khadijat Mohammed, winner of the 2023 Dala Hard Court championship will be playing a second round match in the Girls’ Singles event against Etoro Bassey, finalist at the first leg of the J30 Abuja event.

Their match up is one of the opening matches on Wednesday, amidst a flurry of tantalizing matches which will be gracing the courts on the first day of the tournament.

Bassey, the J30 Abuja number two seed, whose meteoric rise after reaching the final of the first leg will spur her on, will have to be at her very best when she takes on the power hitting Mohammed who played a final set match against eventual winner, Ohunene Yakubu.

Fareehah Adams, the tournament’s number six seed, will come up against Toluwalashe Agunbiade, while Blessing Otu, the number three seed, will battle Faith Adeusi for a quarterfinal ticket while Fego Ayetuoma will trade serves against Bisola Ogunkolade..

In the Boys’ Singles event, France-based Jade Nzewi will be up against Fu Wang Choi from Hong Kong while Namibia’s Joel Hiveluah and Ayomiposi Agboola will battle for a second round berth.

Alex Lap Hui, another Honkonger, will play one of the second matches against Oluwadamilola Agunbiade as the second leg of the J30 Abuja gets into full swing..
