Kay Kay, Igbinovia, Osakwe, 61 Others Jostle For Main Draw Tickets As Rainoil Tennis Open Qualifiers Kick Off
No fewer than 64 players are jostling for spots in the main draw of the Rainoil Open Tennis Championship, Nigeria Tennis Live can report.
Information made available to our correspondent have it that the preliminary rounds kicked off on Friday, 29 November, inside the tennis section of Lagos Country Club, Ikeja.
The players hustling for a place in the main draws include South Africa-based George Osakwe, junior tennis youngster, Wilson Igbinovia and assistant National Wheelchair tennis coach, Kayode Savage.
The first set of the prelim matches will take place on Friday while the second round is expected to be played on Saturday ahead of the draws on Sunday evening.
Top national players are expected to jostle for honours in the tournament which is one of the year ending competitions for the national tennis players.
Joseph Imeh who won the Dala Hard Court tournament in the ancient city of Kano, is one of the players tipped to excel in the competition, having played in two consecutive finals.
He will, however, face stiff competition from closest rival and friend, Sylvester Emmanuel, Nigeria’s number one player, in his bid to defend his title.
