Junior ITF Circuit: Marylove Moves To Kenya, Beats Indian Player; Berths In Second Round
After posing two disappointing appearances at the ITF Junior Circuit in Rwanda, Nigerian teenage sensation, Marylove Edwards has moved to Kenya, where she is participating in a Grade 5 Championship on clay.
The former Nigerian number four player who moved up the world rankings to 1385 after her exploits in Rwanda, was seeded six in the competition and fought back from a set down to defeat Ishita Dahutia, her Indian opponent. The match ended 6-7 (5), 6-0, 6-1.
Recall that the youngster did not appear to be worried after the performance in Rwanda where she didn’t make it beyond the second round.
She has now set up a second round clash against home girl, Shania Kaur Gadhia, who also won her first round match in amazing fashion.
The Nigerian youngster will hope to get better than her past two tournaments with this Kenya competition, as she hopes to climb up the ladder in the junior cadre of tennis.
Nigeria Tennis Live will keep monitoring her activities at the tournament and report to our teeming followers as the competition progresses.
