Ayomide Oduwaye, winner of the Rock Tennis Foundation national U-16 Championship, will be playing his first ITF event of the year when he takes on Mehdi Herraz from the USA at the J30 Abuja event.

Oduwaye defeated Henry Aina in a keenly contested match at the Abeokuta Sports Club in January, 2024, and will have to be at his very deadly best when he takes on the American on Wednesday morning.

The Nigerian is among a number of players seeking to ensure the ITF title is won by a local player despite the number of oppositions at the event.

France-based Jade Nzewi is also in contention for the title after seeing off David Edwards in what a was a blockbuster finale at the Azimuth Shipping Lines Junior Tennis Championship held in Lagos, also in January, 2024.

Nzewi, who was playing in his first major U-16 championship of the year, had told Nigeria Tennis Live that he was preparing to participate in the J30 Abuja event, hence the need to get familiar with the Nigerian turf.

All eyes will now be on Oduwaye who takes on Herraz on the centre court of the tennis section inside the National Stadium, Abuja.

Nigeria Tennis Live will give our followers an update on all activities at the tournament which promises to deliver top class fire brand tennis action to spectators.
