GOODNEWS: ITF Officially Approves First Two Weeks Of Junior Circuit In Nigeria

The plans of the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF) to get Junior ITF Circuits has recently got a massive boost following a recent approval by the International Tennis Federation (ITF).

Nigeria Tennis Live had reported that the NTF was working hard on securing 52 weeks of junior ITF tournaments in the country, and that the federation had gotten a go ahead for the competition, to kick off in July, 2019.

In a recent chat with our correspondent, the NTF President, Engr. Dayo Akindoju, revealed that the ITF has since approved two weeks for the tournament starting from July.

According to him: “They had first approved only one week, but I rejected it. I told them not to bother anymore if they cannot give us two weeks minimum for a start.

“I mean, how can players come from different parts of the world and do just one week of ITF tournament here? How do you justify that? It was at this point that they allowed us do two weeks of the championship.”

Engr. Akindoju further explained that the tournament will hold from 15-18 July, 2019 and that more details about the competition would be communicated to the public as the time approaches.

The likes of Oyinlomo Quadre, Marylove Edwards and other top juniors are expected to participate in this Junior Circuit which will further boost their world rankings.
