EXCLUSIVE: Three Nigerian Players Win Wild Card Slots For Abuja ITF Futures

Naija Tennis Special can authoritatively report that three other Nigerian players will join the trio of Sylvester Emmanuel, Clifford Enosoregbe and Imeh Joseph in the Main Draws of the Tombim Abuja ITF Futures serving off on Monday, May 1, 2017.

This much disclosed to our correspondent by Musa Saidu, chairman of the Nigerian Umpires Association, during a conversation on Sunday, April 30.

Thomas Otu is one of the Nigerian players who made it to the Main Draws of the ITF Futures in Abuja.

Emmanuel Emeruwa, Thomas Otu – a former national champion – and Emmanuel Idoko are the three Nigerians who struggled to get the wild card during the qualifying rounds for the main draw entrants while Ivan Curbelo from Spain earned the fourth card to complete the quartet.

The Nigerian players will be all fired up to kick-start the tournament and hope to progress beyond the quarter-final stage which Sylvester and Clifford managed in last year’s ITF Futures in Lagos.

The Tombim Abuja Open will be followed immediately by the Dayak and GSL Futures as Nigerians will be treated to non-stop tennis action for three consecutive weeks.
