Etoro, Okonkwo Reach Fly High As J60 Abuja Enters Semifinal
The first J60 Abuja event has reached the semifinal stage with Nigerian players dominating with impressive wins across board.
Etoro Bassey of the GEUF Tennis Academy, Akwa-Ibom State. is leading the charge for her first ever J60 final when she defeated Toluwalashe Agunbaide to reach the semifinal of the event on Friday, 14 June, 2024.
She is up against the tournament’s number one seed, Ohunene Yakubu, for a spot in the final of the event which is billed for Sunday, 16 June, 2024.

Also, Khadijat Mohammed, the tournament’s number three seed, saw off her eternal rival, Bright Emmanuel, to reach the semis of the competition where she takes on Alisha Ndukwu, the number two seed.
In the boys’ Singles event, Prosperity Okonkwo will be gunning for a second consecutive final against Daniel Adeleye when the pair meet in the semis on Saturday.
Okonkwo who won the J30 Abuja final, defeated impressive David Edwards in the quarterfinal and looks set for another final if he defeats the number one seed.
Franklin Jimoh was too strong for Yahaya Sani Inabo when the pair met in the quarterfinal on Friday, as he handed the Mambilla Barracks Tennis Club player a two set defeat and will now face Mubarak Ganiyu in the semis.

Ganiyu took out 2023 National Youth Games gold medalist, Oluwatobi Agboola in two clinical sets to land in the semis for the first time in a long time.
He may be able to reach his first ever J60 final if he is able to usurp Jimoh, the tournament’s number two seed, when they face each other on Saturday, 15 June.
