If the words of respected national tennis coach, Benson Ishicheli, are anything to go by, Nigeria’s chances of gaining promotion from Group III are brighter after getting a relatively good draw in the grouping made on Sunday afternoon.

Nigerian Tennis Live had reported that the race to gain promotion from World Group III began with the draws which pitched Nigeria against Benin, Rwanda and Cameroon in Pool A were concluded in Nairobi, Kenya on Sunday afternoon.

Coach Benson led the Nigerian side to Egypt for the Davis Cup Tournament in 2017.

And in one of the posts on social media after the announcement had been made, Coach Benson was quick to acknowledge the chances of Nigeria to gain promotion from the group with the countries we were paired with.

Under the poser on Instagram, the respected coach who traveled with the team to the last Davis Cup tournament in Egypt, wrote: “Good draw. Group II, here we come.”

Nigeria is ranked fourth in the competition and will be starting their adventure at the Davis Cup on Monday and hope to get one past their familiar foes in the tournament so as to finally stand a chance of moving up the ranks on the continent.

Nigerian Tennis Live will be on standby to give our esteemed followers updates from the tournament which is expected to climax on Friday, the 23 June.
