Croatian Twins Who Won Gov’s Cup Doubles Express Love For Nigerian Ladies, Vow To Return In 2018
Nigerians ladies may have won the hearts of some tennis stars who attended the recently concluded Governor’s Cup Lagos Tennis Championship following Nigerian Tennis Live‘s recent discovery.
The Croatian pair of Matej and Ivan Sabanov whose final match against the Indian pair of Chandril and Lakshit Sood shot Nigerian into history books as the first country to host an ITF Doubles Final between two pairs of twins, exclusively told our correspondents that they were in love with the country.
In a chat with Nigerian Tennis Live after their participation in the tournament which they won across two legs, the enterprising players posited that they enjoyed every moment they spent in the country, especially because of the warm atmosphere.
The Sabanov brothers are already looking forward to the 2018 edition of the Governor’s Cup Lagos Tennis Championship. |
“Too much rush, too much traffic, but we love the people here; they are very friendly and helpful.
“The food here is good, we especially enjoyed the rice and chicken as well as the Chinese and Indian foods at the hotel,” the brothers noted during the brief chat with our correspondent.
Asked about their impression of the tournament and what they would love to see in 2018 if they happen to return to the country, the twin brothers said: “Honestly, it is almost impossible for us to itemize one thing that wasn’t done rightly in Lagos.
“Transportation was good, the hotel was good, it was nice to have ball boys around; everything just seemed perfect to us. We really enjoyed it out there, the only thing we would have loved to see more was to have an addition of more pasta to the food collection,” they said.

And about what they would miss about Nigeria, “we have seen the ladies here, they are nice and we definitely love them.
“We shall also miss the warm weather here because Croatia is very cold and we often have to play indoors.
“We will come back next year for sure.”
