BREAKING: Outstanding Oyinlomo Bows Out In Final Set Against Number Two Seed At Lagos Open Tourney
In a tale of what could have been an unbelievable result for a Nigerian player at the ongoing Lagos Open International Tennis Championship, Oyinlomo Quadre bowed out in the final set against the tournament’s number two seed.
The Nigerian who’s Africa’s number four junior player, activated beast mode in the first set of her match against Valeriya Strakhova, breaking the Ukrainian and holding serve to boss a 3-0 lead, but the world number 384 player kept her cool against the Nigerian and took the game to 5-5, including a run of three straight points.
Quadre would later hold serve and break her counterpart to take the game at 7-5. There was a rapturous applause at court five where the match was played.
Valeriya took the second set in almost similar fashion, winning 6-3, but not without a fight by the Nigerian starlet.
The final set began much like the second ended, but it was too little, too late for the Nigerian ‘sugar girl’ who succumbed to a 1-6 loss.
She saw the promised land, but could not get in there, her again.
