The annual Rayfield Tennis Club (RTC) Tennis Championship ended with the winners going home with amazing prizes and winners’ trophies.
The event which is in its third year is being hosted by the Rayfield Tennis Club, as part of developmental plans to promote the players as well as promote the sport in Plateau State.
According to the organizers of the event, the competition featured four different categories, the veterans – 60 years and above – pairing with a younger player, Men and Women’s Singles, and Men’s Doubles events.

The Men’s Singles title was won by Ahmad Alhassan Lawal while Nenrot Suwa copped the Women’s Singles title. Both players went home with the winners’ trophies and N50,000 each.
Winners of the Veterans category also smiled home with N50,000 prize money while the Doubles winners got N200,000 for their efforts.
One of the organizers who spoke with Nigeria Tennis Live, noted that the RTC is working really hard to promote tennis in Jos, Plateau, as there are not many activities from that region.
She noted that the competition, which was open only to players from Plateau State, will soon help local players gain prominence on the national stage.
“In our club we have other tournaments and activities yearly. This year we had our annual kids clinic Because of financial constraints we could not have the others,” Mandy said.
