Adeleye, Ekpenyong Fly High On Latest Junior ITF Rankings (FULL RANKINGS)
Daniel Adeleye has shot himself up the World Junior ITF rankings after an amazing weekend in Ghana which ended with him winning a J30 event.
The Nigerian youngster was the biggest Nigerian mover on the rankings released on Tuesday, 2 May, 2023, as he moved up more than 700 places to burst into the top 1000 world rankings.
According to the recent updates by the ITF, Adeleye is now ranked 983 in the world, coming up a lot of places from his 1715 spot.
Even though the 17-year-old was the biggest mover on the day, David Ekpenyong seemed to be the biggest winner, as he sneaked into the top ten highest ranked African junior players and top 300 in the world.
Ekpenyong, now ranked 257 in the world, is not only Nigeria’s highest-ranked player on the ITF Rankings, he’s also the top ten of the most ranked African players in the world.
For the girls, the situation remained pretty the same way it was ahead of the junior ITF events played over the weekend.
Ohunene Yakubu, who played the second round in a J30 event in Algeria, remained on the summit of the female rankings, but this will hopefully change in the coming weeks with back-to-back competitions.
Her sister remains number two on the list while Etoro Bassey, Sunmisola Okajare and Meny Udoffa make up the top five Nigerian players on the ITF Rankings.
Nigerians will be hoping for a good outing for the youngsters in the coming weeks, as they play in different tournaments across the globe.
