Dala Hard Court: Defending Champion Beaten In Kano As Ogunsakin, Others Advance
Uche Oparaoji, the defending champion at the ongoing Dala Hard Court championship in Kano, has been sent packing from the tournament, Nigeria Tennis Live has gathered.
Oparaoji, Nigeria’s former number one male player, was made to sweat hard on Tuesday morning as he lost to David John, a player who got into the Main Draw through the qualifying series.
David won the first set 7-5, and lost the second 3-6, but he put up a virtuoso performance to take the third set 6-4 and defeat the Davis Cup captain, a feat which will remain unforgettable for him.

In other results, also, Seun Ogunsakin was among the players who advanced to the second round of the championship in Kano State.
The 14-year-old Tunisia-based southpaw player defeated Yusuf Abdulrasheed, his opponent who entered the event via the Wild Card slot, in two straight sets, winning 6-2, 6-1.
Abubakar Yusuf and Daniel Adeleye also kept their hopes of a final berth alive as they both won their respective matches to advance to the second round of the Kano tournament.

While Yusuf got the better of Mubarak Ganiyu in a 6-1, 6-1 game, Adeleye saw off Peter Lawal, another seeded player, winning 6-4, 3-0 (rtd.)
With these results, the chances of a youngster winning the tournament this year keeps increasing as the competition is still left with a number of junior players.
