    Top Nigerian Coaches Storm Lagos For Traning With Barcelona Instructors (Photos)

    Top Nigerian coaches have stormed Lagos alongside Engr. Dayo Akindoju, the president of the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF) ahead of a training session for the country’s coaches organized by the federation.

    According to the information made available to Nigerian Tennis Live, no fewer than 15 Nigerian coaches will be trained by Spanish instructors; Pere Riba and Eduardo Lopez who reportedly arrived the venue of the classroom session at about 7:30am on Friday.

    Sources at the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, Onikan, where the training is scheduled to commence on Friday, 20 October, revealed to Nigeria’s number one tennis site that no fewer than 12 coaches had been registered as at 8:40am.

    The Nigerian coaches in ecstatic mood ahead of the training session on Friday, 20 October.

    As at the time of filing this report, coaches Benson Ishicheli, Rotimi Akinloye, Margaret Olagunjoye, Kayode Savage, Abel Ubiebi, Veronica Oyibokia, Sunday Igbinovia, Douglas Kola and Frank Termena were already on ground for the training session.

    Engr. Akindoju stated that the training is a special way of wrapping up activities of the Governor’s Cup Lagos Tennis Championship in the classroom (for Friday) after which about 100 kids will be taken through practical sessions on Saturday morning ahead of the grand finale of the ITF pro-circuit.

    Sunday Igbinovia holds on to his writing materials ahead of the training as other coaches look on.

    The national technical director of the NTF, Rotimi Akinloye, is one of the coaches expected to help tidy things up at the training sessions which will be replicated on a bigger scale in Abuja, Nigeria’s Federal Capital, at the end of the year

    In a chat with our correspondent, he had said: “The three core areas that we are looking at include; methodology of identifying talents, how to train children, and how to handle players that are already doing well. These are the things which the Spanish trainers will drill our coaches on.

    The three musketeers from Barcelona, Spain deliberate ahead of the training session.

    “We are looking at coaches that will help the federation train players regardless of the background and no those.
    “Plans are presently being finalized on how to get the coaches involved and how to go about the training which will hold to wrap up the successful hosting of the Governor’s Cup Lagos Tennis Championship.”
