Phillips, Jebutu Battle European Players In Denmark Grade 4 Junior ITF Circuit
Abayomi Phillips and Emmanuel Jebutu will be in contention for a place in the second round when they take on other European Junior players at the J4 ITF tennis tournament in Denmark.
The Nigerian players have been in Europe since the beginning of the new tennis season alongside Toyin Asogba, as part of plans to further boost their tennis development.
Two of the players are top seeds in the Grade 4 competition taking place in Frederiksberg, and will both tackle players from Sweden for a place in the next round of the tournament.
Phillips, the number three seed, ranked 341 in the world, is up against Adrian Luddeckens as he seeks his first win on European soil since the start of the tour.
The 17-year-old player who complained bitterly about the cold situation in Norway, has promised to better than his previous encounters, especially since he has been upset by unseeded players.
In a similar fashion, Jebutu is also seeking to get one past the Europeans when he takes on Olle Sonesson Lidholt, also from Sweden, for a second round berth.
Asogba would, however, not be playing the girls singles match as she did not make it to the main draws of the competition.
Nigeria Tennis Live will ensure a smooth reportage of the activities of the Nigerian youngsters in Europe as they continue making giant strides.
