J2 Tunis: No 4 Seed Quadre Opens Account Against Unseeded British Player In Tunisia
Having emerged as the number four seed for the Grade 2 Junior ITF Circuit event codenamed J2 Tunis, Nigeria’s Oyinlomo Quadre will be battling Britain’s Eva Shaw in her first match.
The Nigerian number one player who turns 17 in 2020 is stepping up her game in the junior cadre of world tennis, having won her first ever J3 tournament in Morocco last year.
Quadre, the first Nigerian to win the Nigerian Slam, had revealed in an interview with Nigeria Tennis Live, that she hopes to end the new year as a top 50 player.
She had stated that since she came really close to achieving her top 100 goals in 2019, but faltered along the line, she’s getting even further this year, and hopes to make it count this time around.
In one of the 9:00am fixtures for Tuesday, 21 January, the Aces Tennis Academy upstart will be taking on her British counterpart on court 5 in Tunisia.
The Nigerian superstar will be hoping for an amazing tournament in Tunisia where the competition is taking place on hard court, a surface which she’s quite conversant with.
This junior competition is her first engagement in 2020, and all eyes will be on the player who’s arguably Nigeria’s biggest shot at winning a WTA event for the first time ever.
