MUST READ: Quadre Reveals When She Expects To Win Her First Grand Slam
Oyinlomo Quadre, Nigeria’s number one female tennis player, has revealed how soon she expected to win her first ever Grand Slam title.
The 16-year-old African number four best player reached the peak of her national career when she won back to back national titles in Abuja and Kano without breaking a sweat.
Quadre is tipped for an unprecedented third title as many tennis observers believe she is Nigeria’s best player at the moment, and can reach her highest heights in the coming years.
In an exclusive chat with Nigeria Tennis Live, the youngster believes winning the grand slam is more important to her than being the Nigerian number one, even though she never thought she’d be occupying that spot at this time.
Asked when she thinks she can win a grand slam, she noted that if she could become the Nigerian number one at 16, she should be able to win a grand slam five years after.
“Well… hopefully, within 5 years,” she replied the conversation with our correspondent.
The youngster also spoke about the disappointment of losing out on the Orange Bowl and Eddie Herr competitions, explaining that she has already moved on.
She said: “Well I feel so bad about it but there’s nothing I can do right now. I am only thinking about the future and that’s pre season.
“At the moment, going pro is priority.”
