EXCLUSIVE: After Impressive Show In Abuja, Nigeria’s Marylove Upgrades, Set For Dubai Invasion
Talented Nigerian tennis youngster, Marylove Edwards will be playing two legs of Junior ITF Circuit in Dubai, UAE in January, Nigeria Tennis Live has gathered.
Edwards was at her very best during the two-legged competition in Abuja, Nigeria’s Federal Capital, as she got to the final of both legs, losing only the second leg to more experienced Oyinlomo Quadre.
The US-based youngster who’s been on the sponsorship of Temple Management Company (TMC), seems to be realizing the potentials that the whole world knew her with.
And reports reaching Nigeria Tennis Live now have it that the talented player will be in Dubai for two weeks come January, 2020.
Koye Sowemimo, the MD, Temple Sports, authoritatively informed our correspondent that Edwards will be playing two weeks of Grade 4 Junior ITF competition in Dubai in January.
According to him, the reason for this is to ensure that she’s also exposed to competitions outside Africa.
“Marylove has had a good year finishing top 600 for ITF juniors and now it’s about 2020. We want to ensure she is playing outside of Africa as well and we hope to see her take part in UAE tournaments early January,” he said.
While also hailing the player for her efforts, Mr. Sowemimo gave kudos to her father for being such an amazing coach over the past few years.
Said he: “Great to see our champ @marylovechamp break into top 600 as the season comes to an end for her.
“She has worked incredibly hard and 2020 will see her more on the global circuit. A lot of credit goes to her father as her coach.”
Nigeria Tennis Live will keep monitoring Edwards’s continuous progress as she continues with her tennis development.
