Former US Open Star Adewale Targets Return To Grand Slam

Nigeria’s Alex Adewale is targeting a return to the highest level of world tennis competitiveness in the wheelchair tennis.

According to the losing finalist at the 2019 PUMA Engineering Wheelchair Tennis Championship in Abuja, he is already looking forward to year 2020 after the disappointing loss.

In a chat with Nigeria Tennis Live after the tournament, the man fondly called Osama by his admirers stated that his recent loss at the competition which he won in 2018 was as a result of an injury that he sustained prior to the tournament.

But the world’s 131 rated player is rallying to get back on his feet for the next year, as Nigeria prepares for the forthcoming Paralympics qualifying rounds as well as the Kenyan Open which holds early in year 2020.

“I am working really hard to also return to playing some ITF world tour competitions ahead of those tournaments.

“My dream for 2020 is to see how to get into positions where I can play Grand Slams, like I did with the US Open I played the other time,” Adewale noted.

The Nigerian superstar who has dominated the local tennis scene for close to a decade is positive about his chances of bouncing back from his recent injury worry.

“With God, all things are possible, I know. I believe I will be back from this recent injury.

“I trust God for speed to bounce back very soon,” he added.

Nigeria Tennis Live will keep up with the player’s progress and report to our teeming followers.
