Living up to her pre tournament hype, Nigeria’s Oyinlomo Quadre has booked her place in the second round of the ongoing Lagos Open International Tennis Championship.

Quadre, Africa’s number four best junior player, crushed top player, Patience Onebamhoin in two straight sets of 6-0, 6-2 to ensure she equaled her record at the tournament.

But since her target is the quarter final stage of the World Tour Championship, she’s coming up against a fiercer opposition in Riya Bhatia, the tournament’s number five seed.

Bhatia, ranked 499 got the better of Nigeria’s Oiza Yakubu in less than forty minutes to secure her second round spot, but she will have her hands full when she comes up against Quadre.

In other matches, Joseph Imeh secured a place in the second round and will be facing number seven seed, Takanyi Garanganga, while Emmanuel Idoko, the other Nigerian male player in the main draw, will be up against Skander Masouri, the tournament’s number one seed from Tunisia.

Blessing Samuel faces an uphill task when she challenges Sandra Samir, the number two seed from Egypt, for a place in the quarter finals of the competition.

Nigeria Tennis Live will bring an unrivaled coverage of the competition to our teeming followers from all over the world.
