Khadijat Mohammed and Ohunene Yakubu will be competing for the J30 Accra Girls’ Singles title on Saturday, 6 September, 2025, in renewed rivalry.
The pair have been two of Nigeria’s best female tennis players on the junior ITF tennis circuit over the past few years and are currently in the capital city of Ghana for the first leg of the Junior ITF event which ends on Saturday, 6 September, 2025.

Yakubu, fresh from winning the Girls’ Youth title at the Gbolahan Odele Junior Tennis Championship in Lagos, reached the final of the J30 Accra event after defeating Yasmine Douyeb from Morocco 6-1, 6-0 in the semifinal on Friday.

Mohammed ensured an all-Nigeria final after taking out the tournament’s number one seed and crowd favourite, Sisu-Makena Tomegah in a three-set thriller.

The Nigerian number one female tennis player started the opening set with a 6-0 victory but fell to a 1-6 loss in the second before reaching the final with a 6-3 win in the final set.
The last time both players met in the final, it was Mohammed who had the last laugh as she ran away with a 6-2, 6-3, but the Tunisia-based player will be hoping for a redemption this time around.
