Nigeria’s Seun Ogunsakin will face a stiff opposition to stand a chance of reaching another J100 final at the ongoing ITF Juniors event in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The Ekiti-born tennis teenager who has been clinical all week at the J100 competition in South Africa, defeated Mirija Andriantefihasina from Madagascar in straight sets that ended 6-3, 6-4 to reach the semifinal of the event.

Ogunsakin, who won his first ever J100 title in Mexico a few weeks ago, is the tournament’s number two seed, and will be facing off against Samarth Sahita, the tournament’s number three seed from India for a chance to win his second consecutive J100 title.

He defeated the number one seed at the J100 Monterrey event to claim the title, and as the number two seed in Johannesburg, he will fancy his chances of going another step further in his quest to get within the touching distance of the top 100 junior players in the world.

The former African number one U-14 player, currently ranked 193 in the world, started the competition by defeating two South African players, before reaching the quarterfinal stage of the event.

In the first round, he played a tough final set match against Borys Alexander who reached the main draw from the qualifying rounds. Ogunsakin beat Alexander 7-6(5), 4-6, 6-3 before outlasting Bogdan Mandic 6-4, 7-5.

Nigeria Tennis Live will keep tabs on the Nigerian tennis sensation and report all the details from his forthcoming match against his Indian opponent.
