Top seeds at the VEMP Open Championship will be playing some intense opening day matches according to the draws obtained by Nigeria Tennis Live.
Canice Abua, the Men’s Singles top seed, will face off against another tough opponent in Abubakar Yusuf, in the first round of the tournament just as Khadijat Mohammed, the Women’s Singles top seed takes on Jesutoyosi Adeusi in her first match.
Mohammed, winner of the last two national tournaments, will be hoping to win for her first title at the VEMP Open championship to further cement her status as the indisputable champion.

Abua, winner of the 2024 Dala Hard Court Championship and a semifinalist at the Rainoil Tennis Open event in Lagos early this year, will also be gunning for his first ever title at the VEMP Open competition.

Oman-based Oche Adehi will be up against high-flying Lucky Danjuma in one of the matches spectators will be looking out for, while Davis Cup star, Michael Emmanuel will be up against 2023 Dala Hard Court standout player, David John.
Inform Success Ogunjobi will take on youngster Dabira Oluwaseyi just as title hopeful, Etoro Bassey will battle Emmanuella Kevin-Bebe. Budding tennis sensation, Goodnews Aina will also be up against Mary Azi.

FASU Games Women’s Singles silver medalist, Bamidele Omotayo and Alice Paul will slug it out in another opening day fixture just as Mary Udoffa will ambush Amarachi Odoh.
In other exciting fixtures, vastly experienced Blessing Anuna will be in action against youngster Salvation Alex while former winner, Blessing Omotayo will hope to start her title defence against Favour Godwin from Mambilla Barracks.
Matches are expected to serve off by 9am on Monday, 7 July, 2025, inside the tennis section of the National Stadium, Abuja.
