After winning the Dala Hard Court championship for two consecutive seasons, Khadijat Mohammed has emerged as Nigeria’s number one female tennis player.
The Abuja-based tennis teenager ended 2025 as the second highest-ranked player on the rankings, however, in the latest rankings released by the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF), she has risen to the summit of the pack.
Erstwhile number one player, Aanu Ayegbusi follows Mohammed closely in second place while Blessing Omotayo, winner of the 2024 VEMP Open is sitting in third position.

In the male rankings, US-based David Ekpenyong, remains on top of the log and retains his spot as Nigeria’s number one male player.
He is followed in second place by Uche Oparaoji, a former number one, while Canice Abua, winner of the Men’s Singles event at the Dala Hard Court Championship, is third on the log.
Iloputa Ikechukwu is the number four-ranked Nigerian player while Daniel Adeleye and Michael Emmanuel, both Davis Cup players, are fifth and sixth respectively.
The rankings have been released by the tennis federation ahead of the fast approaching Rainoil Tennis Championship which is making a return after a two-year absence.
