    SAPETRO Futures: Semifinalists Emerge As Match Venue Shifts To Ikoyi Club

    Semifinalists who will compete for a place in the finals of the SAPETRO Futures Tennis Championship have emerged, Nigeria Tennis Live can report.

    Players from different parts of the country including Bayelsa, Abuja, Oyo, Ekiti, Ondo, Cross River, Lagos are participating in the week-long event in Lagos as part of tournaments organized by the International Tennis Academy (ITA).

    In the Boys’ U-12 category, Oyo State’s Ashim Ghazal will play a straight final against Excellency Oginiba while Karina Opuene, who is playing in two categories, will slug it out with Tomiwa Olafare, for a spot in the Girls’ U-12.

    Barakat Ganiyu will tackle Ayibaifie Joshua, a product of the Goodluck Jonathan Tennis Foundation, for the second slot in the Girls’ U-12 final.

    For a place to join Yahaya Isa in the Boys’ U-14 final, Goodluck Tersoo and Goodluck Osakwe will slug it out in the second semifinals while Goodnews Aina, winner of the SNEPCo Junior Tennis event in Warri, will battle Toluwalashe Agunbiade for a finals berth in the Girls’ U-16 event.

    Sensational Mofifunoluwa Atilola who is also in two categories at the event in Lagos, will have to outplay Adesewa Olaniyan if she must reach her first Girls’ U-16 final at the SAPETRO Futures event in Lagos.

    The junior tennis talent discovery competition which served off inside the tennis section of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, has now been moved to Ikoyi Club, where both the semifinal and final matches will be played on Friday and Saturday, 29 & 30 November, 2024.
