This weekend’s matches in the NCC League have been updated by the organisers of the competition and the initial report about the derby is no longer appropriate.

Team VGC Lions will play Team Kalotari in Port Harcourt while Team Muller will tackle Team Optiweb in Lagos.

Ibadan-based Team Oluyole will also play at home against the talented Team Civil Defence which has former national champions in their ranks.

Check out our initial report below:

Lagos tennis fans will have divided loyalty as two teams based in the state will take on each other in one of this weekend’s fixtures at the ongoing NCC Tennis League.

The fixture will see Team Muller and VGC Lions trade tackles at the National Stadium in Surulere, where the former play their home games.

Ronke Akingbade of the Team Muller is also one of the players expected to do justice to their visitors in Lagos this weekend.

Joseph Imeh, who stunned Team Civil Defence’s Abdulmumuni Babalola in their fixture about two weeks ago, is expected to lead his team’s charge against the relatively new boys in the tennis league when they meet on Saturday.

Former national champion, Ronke Akingbade, and former US-based tennis prodigy, Emmanuel Idoko, are also some of the players that are expected to do justice to the game against the VGC big boys.

In other fixtures this weekend, Team Qualifier will take on Team Kalotari while the Kwara Stadium in Ilorin will come alive as Team Optiweb will have their hands full when they play against a highly-experienced Team Civil Defence which boasts former Nigerian champions, Abdulmumuni Babalola and Clifford Enosoregbe as well as Christie Agugbom.

The NCC League which is in its second year, is offering a price money of N23million to winners of the league with the top team taking a massive N7million of the total prize money.

Naija Tennis Special will bring you updates from the matches this weekend after they have been concluded.
