Nigeria’s top U-16 junior player, Seun Ogunsakin, will be leading the Nigerian contingent to the ITF/CAT U-16 African Junior Championship in Algeria.
This information was confirmed by the Confederation of African Tennis (CAT) on Wednesday, 27 March, 2024, after the tennis body listed all the players on the Main Draw for the event.
Ogunsakin, the West African no. 1 U-16 player, is the number four player on the list as he is the fourth highest-ranked player on the Acceptance List.
He is joined by J30 Abuja finalist, Prosper Okonkwo, another top U-16 player from Africa, whose current world ranking is 835 in the juniors.
They are the only Nigerian players on the boys’ Acceptance List as released by CAT on Wednesday evening.

For the female team, Ohunene Yakubu, winner and finalist at the two legs of the J30 Abuja event a few weeks ago, is the top Nigerian on the Acceptance List.
With her 605 world ranking, Yakubu is the sixth placed player for the competition and she’s joined by J30 Abuja winner, Khadijat Mohammed.
Mohammed, ranked 1070, is the only other Nigerian female player on the Acceptance List by CAT for the competition billed to hold from 15-20 April, 2024 in Algiers, Algeria.
